Farmers Show Strong Knowledge in Cow Management Survey on Transformula Benefits

As part of the recent Cow Management competition, a survey was conducted among participating farmers to test their knowledge of the benefits associated with feeding Transformula transition milk-based calf milk replacer. The survey results highlight a high level of understanding of the product’s impact on calf growth, health, and future milk production.

Significant Calf Weight Gain Recognised

When asked about the additional percentage weight gain for calves fed Transformula, 92.3% of the 195 farmers surveyed correctly identified a 35% increase in weight gain from recent trial work. This overwhelming majority reflects clear awareness of the strong early growth advantage Transformula provides.

Key Benefits of Transition Milk Feeding Well Understood

Farmers also demonstrated a solid grasp of the benefits of feeding a transition milk-based replacer. When asked what Transformula helps with (multiple answers allowed), the most frequently recognised benefits were:

· More milk at first lactation (86.4%)

· Better intestinal development (83.9%)

· Antibodies in the milk helping protect against pathogens (72.9%)

· Lower scour levels (48.2%)

Fewer respondents selected secondary benefits such as a shiny coat or strong hoof growth, demonstrating a good focus on the core health and productivity outcomes.

Lifetime Milk Production Benefits Clear

The survey also tested knowledge of a recent trial at Harper Adams, which showed that calves fed Transformula for the first 10 days of life produced significantly higher milk fat and protein in their first lactation compared to calves fed skim-based replacer. 81.5% of 200 respondents correctly identified the increase as an extra 85kg of fat and protein.

Conclusion

These survey results from farmers competing in the Cow Management challenge demonstrate strong industry awareness of the scientifically proven benefits of transition milk feeding with Transformula. The clear understanding of its impact on early growth, health, and lifetime productivity reflects well on the communication of trial results and the growing adoption of effective calf nutrition strategies.
